Competition! Which Ratz track is Warner playing on?
In the Spring of 2010, veteran Nashville punk/pop band The Ratz - Joe Blanton (later with Royal Court of China), Les Shields, Randy Thompson, and Bone Brown - reunited to record four new songs, one of which features the guitar skills of longtime friend and fan, the one and only Warner E. Hodges.

Choose from: My Baby Don't Love Me, Kill Me, That's Alright Mama, or Drop to the Ground. Then to enter the competition submit your guess via The Ratz Trap Facebook page or by email. The names of the people who guess correctly will be placed in a hat and a will be drawing held on July 10, 2010. The winner gets brand new CD's from Jason & the Scorchers (Halcyon Times) and Warner E. Hodges (Centerline). One entry per person, please!
Do you love it?

Every Picture Tells A Story
Warner will be joining The Long Players at The Mercy Lounge, Nashville on Saturday, March 6 as they play the seminal Rod Stuart album. Warner will be singing Maggie May.
In the early '70's, Rod Stewart was a young rock star. In those early years, he created the music that the rest of his career would be measured by. Coming out of The Jeff Beck Group, he and Ron Wood turned the Small Faces into The Faces and their live shows became legendary booze romps that filled stadiums. His solo albums seemlessly mixed r'n'b, British folk, country and rock'n'roll. With his third solo album, Every Picture Tells A Story, in 1971, he made the record that is still largely regarded as his best. With Ronnie Wood he co-wrote the title track which became a classic rock staple. He beautifully covered Bob Dylan's Tomorrow is A Long Time and Tim Hardin's Reason To Believe. He recorded completely original versions of Arthur Cruddup/ Elvis's hit, That's All Right Mama and The Temptations I'm Losing You that were live show-stoppers. With Mandolin Wind, he solely wrote one of his best songs ever. The album itself is listed among Rolling Stone's top albums of all time.
On Saturday night at 9:30 PM, March 6 at The Mercy Lounge, The Long Players will be playing that monumental album from front to back with another group of fantastic guest singers from our amazing musical community. We have Dan Baird from The Georgia Satellites/Yahoos/Homemade Sin, Will Hoge, Warner Hodges from Jason and the Scorchers/Homemade Sin, Radney Foster, Jonell Mosser, Ben Cyllus, James Ruben and Greg Mangus to help us put this one in a live setting. We'll be doing the album and then another set of Rod that make you forget he ever went disco.
The Long Players are: Steve Allen, John Deaderick, Steve Ebe, Brad Jones & Bill Lloyd. Helping us out this time, we also feature Tammy Rogers King on fiddle and mandolin and Pete Finney on dobro and steel.
As always, a portion of proceeds will be a donation to charity. Our charity recipient will once again be The American Red Cross.

Edgar 'Ed' Wadsworth Hodges,
February 23, 1930 - February 16, 2010
Edgar passed peacefully at home February 16, 2010, attended by his devoted wife of 53 years, Sarah Blanche Hodges. He is survived by his son Warner E. Hodges (Deborah and their children Brock, Chauncey and Emelia) and granddaughter Molly Sara Price, his siblings Sally (Rudolph) Cashwell, John Hodges and Lora Ware, sister-in-law Rachel Johnson and brother-in-law Jerry (Elizabeth) Sweatt, numerous nieces and nephews and many, many adored friends. He was preceded in passing by sons Gerald Dwayne Price and Glen Alan Hodges.
Born February 23, 1930, in LaGrange, NC, to Eva Mae and Enoch Hodges, Ed worked for Ford Motor Company, Norfolk, VA, before being drafted into military service in March 1951, Ft. Meade, MD, basic training in Camp Breckinridge, KY. He was troop shipped to Europe (Sonthofen, Germany), where he achieved the rank of corporal. In March 1953 he separated from the U.S. Army and immediately joined the Army Reserve of Norfolk, VA, where he found a need to be back in the field. He re-entered the Army as a sergeant in August 1955 and was transferred to Ft. Benning, GA, where he meet his beloved wife, Blanche.
Between 1958 and his retirement from the Army in October 1973, he was assigned three tours of duties in Germany, Korea, two in Vietnam, Santa Domingo and the Panama Canal Zone. During his military career he and wife Blanche formed a band, "Swingin' Strings," winning a contract to tour military bases for Special Services entertaining the troops as opening act for such well-knowns as Johnny Cash, Archie Campbell, Lefty Frizzell, Bobby Bare, Faron Young and Porter Wagoner.
After retiring from the army as Chief Warrant Officer 2 in October 1973, Ed and his family settled in Nashville to carry on their love of playing country music. He began teaching at NADC. He received his BS from the University of Tennessee in 1981 and his Master of Science in Industrial Education in 1985. Ed received the Outstanding Technical Instructor Award of 1982 from the State of Virginia Private Schools Association. He also received eight top instructor awards from NADC and the Outstanding Instructor of the Year award from NADC in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1984. Ed retired from NADC as Education Coordinator in 2000 to indulge his love of gardening and music.
Ed was wholeheartedly devoted to his family, home, work and music. He will be sincerely missed by his family and the many who were fortunate to have their lives touched by him. Ed was exceedingly supportive of, and influential in, his son Warner’s music career, notably the band Jason and the Scorchers.
Ed’s family members would like to express their sincere appreciation to the amazing staff at Odyssey Health Services (Hospice) for their loving care.
Many Scorchers fans will remember Ed for his many on stage guest appearances with the band over the years. Ed, Blance and Warner can been seen playing together at the Hodges family home in this in this 1983 TV spot.
Messages of condolence can be left at the Edgar Wadsworth Hodges Memorial page on Facebook.

Seasons greetings from Warner
Hello all and Happy Holidays! I am all geared up to spend Christmas with Deb and the rest of our family. One of our girls, Eme is in Nashville already and Chauncey, our other daughter gets here on Monday 21st. Brock our son, lives here so Deb and I are happy for the season.
The New Year brings all kinds of great things. First off, Halcyon Times, comes out in Feb. It has been a long time coming, to say the least. We are all so excited to have the new CD coming out. It has been a while for us and we seriously weren't sure there would ever be another CD from us. There are also European JATS dates on the horizon. May of 2010 is what Deb is working on at this minute.
I will also be in Europe with Dan Baird & Homemade Sin three or four times this coming year. We are in Denmark and Norway in Feb. We have just started writing songs for the next DB & HMS cd. I hope to be working on that in the early part of 2010.
I am also in the final stages of vocals on the CD I have been working on with Timm Biery and Dave Roe. I have been blessed to been a part of a musical journey with these two amazing musicians. I always leave sessions with these guys wondering why they asked me to be a part of their three piece. It is a super challenging and rewarding experience playing with these guys. I am always pushing my musical envelope with Dave and Timm. I hope we get the CD out this coming year.
I will be in Europe for about half of 2010 as it stands right now. I hope to see as many of you as possible this year.
p.s. - Jason, please don't leave Dino off the Christmas music list!
Happy Holidays,
Warner
November 4
Hello. I thought I’d better take a few minutes to bring you up to date on what’s been going on recently and some cool stuff to look forward to. So hang on tight, here we go…
There is a lot going on in the world of JATS at the moment starting with a new CD entitled ‘Halcyon Times’ which will be released in February 2010. The new album features fourteen new tracks from the band, which now includes Al Collins on bass and Pontus Snibb on drums, along with myself on guitar and Jason on the vocal duties. Danny Baird also appears as a fifth Scorcher handling acoustic and second guitar duties. We are more excited than we’ve been for a long time at the prospect of putting out a new CD. We have tried very hard to make a bold step forward, while maintaining a healthy respect for the past. We sure hope every one likes it. There are a couple of new tracks on our brand new website over at www.jasonandthescorchers.com. Go check them out and hey whilst you are over there why not sign up for our regular e-newsletter too.
Speaking of site's Pontus’ girlfriend Mia has just done a wonderful job of giving our MySpace page a new lick of paint. If you’re not already a ‘friend’ why not head on over and join the family. You can find us at - www.myspace.com/jasonandthescorchers.
Jason has a short run of Californian dates next week before heading back to Europe with dates in Spain, Germany and the UK during November and December. I’d just like to take a second to congratulate Jason on receiving an Emmy for his work as Farmer Jason. It is a wonderful thing. Jason is constantly out there wandering the world as a minstrel. Catch one of his shows. It'll change your life. For more info visit - www.farmerjason.com.
Also a congrats goes out to Pontus on the release of his band Bonafide's second album ‘Something’s Dripping’. Pontus is the singer and guitarist and they are gonna be all over Europe throughout November and December opening for Sweden’s answer to L7 and The Runaways, the bodacious and hard rockin’ Crucified Barbara. These are Bonafide’s first dates outside of Sweden with 33 gigs in 40 days, taking in Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Holland, Switzerland and Austria. Now that’s what I call a tour! For details visit - www.myspace.com/bonafiderocks.
Al Collins is hard at work on his wife Stacie’s, next CD project. Look for new tunes soon. I was fortunate enough to get to play on about half of the album along with my buddies Danny Baird and Eric Borash. Ebo as his friends call him is one hell of a guitar player. Check out his work with Radney Foster. I’m looking forward to hooking up with Stacie and Al and playing lead guitar for them at Uncle Bo’s in Topeka on Nov 20 and Knuckleheads in Kansas City on Nov 21. For full details and to keep up with all that is happening with Al and Stacie head over to - www.myspace.com/staciecollins or www.staciecollins.com.
As for my buddy Danny Baird. Hopefully we are gonna start a new Dan Baird & Homemade Sin album sometime this winter and I can't wait. Being a member of DB & HMS gives me immense pleasure. I get to play with Dan, the amazing Mr. Keith Christopher and one of my favorite ever drummers in rock ‘n’ roll - Mr. Mauro Magellan! There is not a night with these boys that isn't memorable for me. We will be in Norway and Denmark in Feb. 2010. P.S. when Pontus can't make a JATS show, Mauro is now our go to guy. How rock ‘n’ roll is that? Look out for tour dates and news about the album at - www.danbairdandhomemadesin.com.
Myself, I’m putting the finishing touches on a three piece studio project with Timm Biery on drums (Danny Gatton, Nils Lofgren) and David Rorick on bass (Johnny Cash - that's right 20 years with Johnny Cash!, Dwight Yoakam). We have been having a great time with this for a while now and are almost done with recording. Can't wait to get that out to y'all. A bit different for me musically. I enjoy trying to keep up with Dave Ro & Timm.
I also have a Nashville gig coming up at The Mercy Lounge on Nov 14 playing as part of The Longplayers. We’re doing AC/DC’s Back In Black. Now you all know how I love me some Akka Dakka, so that’s going to be one fun night.
Back to JATS. We are putting together a European run for May 2010 and we are absolutely chomping at the bit to get out there and get this thing back on the road. Look for JATS to go at it as heavy as every one's schedule will allow. In the meantime we will be in Hanover, Germany on Dec 5 playing at the Xmas party of Blue Rose who are our label over there, so if any of you can make it over say hello.
See ya on the road somewhere.
Thanks,
Warner.
